Northeast PA Manufacturers and Employers Association offers unique array of training options
Northeast Pennsylvania stands out as a prime location for manufacturing companies, including those in the food processing sector, because of its efficient access to a variety of training programs and providers. These include independent organizations like the Northeast PA Manufacturers & Employers Association (MAEA), which has been assisting regional manufacturing companies with training programs and other services for more than 50 years.
MAEA is unique because it offers training courses and certificate programs for all employment levels, from lead workers and supervisors to human resources professionals and managers. They offer everything from basic and continuing education courses to skills seminars and customized training programs to fit specific company needs. The nonprofit organization works hand in hand with their member companies to deliver on-site training programs designed to address each company’s individual goals and current production situations.
Romark Logistics, which provides supply chain and logistics services to food processing companies from its facility in the Humboldt Industrial Park in Hazle Township, is one of the many companies throughout Northeast PA who have benefitted from MAEA’s variety of training options. Holly Courter, Romark’s senior human resources manager, said, “From operations, to finance, to human resources, to safety and more – MAEA offers training for every part of the organization. The training they provide is professional, thorough and always takes into account the latest trends or developments of each specific field. MAEA knows the businesses they serve and that is important when evaluating the training needs of our region.”
MAEA’s array of training options include individual courses or a series of courses that lead to a certificate in team leadership skills, supervisory development, management development and human resources. They also provide a process improvement training series, which includes an introduction to lean manufacturing, as well as purchasing and safety trainings.
MAEA’s on-site training program is designed to cover the courses that will provide the most value to a company’s operations. Employers can select the courses, time and day of the week and location that best fits their needs. They can be delivered right at the facility or at a meeting location of the company’s choice.
